Shary Bartlett is an artist and fine arts instructor living in Vancouver, Canada. Her mixed media body of work includes encaustic, acrylic, fibre arts, prints, sculptural assemblage, collage and altered photographs. She has been a long-time Fine Arts instructor at colleges and universities such as Capilano University, Red Deer College and Langara College. Shary teaches international in-person and online mixed media workshops, including Painting with Fire - an encaustic Masterclass featuring 26 of the world’s top encaustic instructors. 

 

Shary's work has been included in solo and group exhibitions in the US and Canada. Public commissions are on display at the Vancouver Parks Board, Vancouver Public Library and the Vancouver Foundation. Her work is held in private collections in Canada and the US and in the Museum of Encaustic Art’s Permanent Collection.

 

With a Master's degree from Carleton University in Canadian Studies and Art History, Shary has studied at Emily Carr University, Simon Fraser University, Capilano University, Langara College, Universite Laval and the Universite Paul Valery. She's a creative writing graduate of Simon Fraser University's The Writer's Studio. Shary served as Social Media Director on the Board of International Encaustic Artists from 2019-2021 and is Co-founder and former Chair of CanWaxWest.

Nominated for the International Encaustic Artist’s La Vendeenne Award for Education, Shary has been recognized for teaching excellence instructing encaustic fine art.

Shary's work is published in the books, Encaustic Art in the 21st Century, Encaustic Revelation, and in several e magazines.

 

Her YouTube videos are celebrations of Shary's passion for mixed media art and encaustic.
