Shary Bartlett is an artist and fine arts instructor living in Vancouver, Canada. Her mixed media body of work includes encaustic, acrylic, fibre arts, prints, sculptural assemblage, collage and altered photographs. She instructs Fine Arts at Capilano University, Langara College and Red Deer College and leads mixed media workshops and retreats in Canada and internationally. Shary serves on the Board of International Encaustic Artists.
Shary's work has been included in solo and group exhibitions in the US and Canada. Public commissions are on display at the Vancouver Parks Board, Vancouver Public Library and the Vancouver Foundation. Her work is held in private collections in Canada and the US and in the Encaustic Art Institute's Permanent Collection.
With a Master's degree from Carleton University in Canadian Studies and Art History, Shary has studied arts at Emily Carr University, Simon Fraser University, Langara College, Universite Laval and the Universite Paul Valery. She's a creative writing graduate of Simon Fraser University's The Writer's Studio, co-founder and former Chair of the International Encaustic Artists' Western Canadian Chapter.
Nominated for the International Encaustic Artist’s La Vendeenne Award for Education in 2017, Shary has been recognized for teaching excellence in raising the level of excellence in encaustic fine art. She currently sits as Social Media Director on the Board of International Encaustic Artists.
